Although I bought the camera at the computer show in October ostensibly to capture images of that show, I was thinking of getting a camera for some time.

After seeing some lovely sunrises around the Arundel area on the train to London each morning, I knew that I had very little time before the clocks changed back to GMT and I wouldn't be able to capture these images for some time - if indeed I ever got the chance again, with the rains causing morning mists I might not get the same views when everything had a chance to dry out. As it was it took me until just a few days before the clocks went back before the conditions were right to take my first shots. Bear in mind all of these are taken through the window of a moving train.

I love the colours and misty trees on this one; I had snatched a similar picture through the opposite window of a train before, but had grafitti scratched into the window, no smoking signs etc. to spoil the view. Luckily I got an almost identical view a few days later, and almost ended up in some unlucky commuter's lap as I jumped over to get a better picture this time.

Okay, not strictly a picture of Arundel; it's some way down the line. But I don't know where it is exactly, and thought it fitted in with the rest of the images on this page rather nicely.

This is one of my favourites; Arundel castle emerging out of the mists, with birds rising from the flood waters below. The thumbnail doesn't really show any of this, it's only in the larger versions you get the subtlety of the image.

The only way to get a really close image of the castle was to switch on the digital zoom feature, 2.5x zoom on top of the 3x optical zoom making a sort-of 7.5x zoom; however, it gives a really grainy picture, so the smaller versions are slightly better, and I'd need to do some image manipulation to make the full-size one useful I think.

An image of the moon in a rainbow-hued sky above the waters of Arundel. Very Authurian, apart from it being flood water, not some lake snided out with watery bints handing out swords.
